About Flicx UK

Flicx … built on a passion

When founder Richard Beghin realised there weren’t enough facilities for the increasingly-popular sport of cricket in South Africa, he founded Flicx. He wanted to help make South Africa a better country to live in, and his passion for his country and his love of cricket led him to develop the Flicx Cricket Pitch. In August 1997 the first pitch was rolled out at Telkom Country Club in Pretoria, South Africa. Coverage on BBC Oxford (click here)

A success in the UK too

In 1999, after creating a successful business in South Africa, Richard launched Flicx Cricket Pitches at the England and Wales Cricket coaching conference. They met with a tremendous response. Mr Keith Pont, Director of Amateur Cricket of the ECB ordered 800 pitches for grass roots cricket in the UK, while Mr Ross Turner of the ICC went on to order Flicx Pitches for the development of grass roots cricket around the world. Flicx UK was formed in 2001 and and is now a well-recognised and respected brand in cricketing circles, with a growing reputation in other sports too.

Richard’s belief is that if we can teach children at all levels, through sport, that life is about team work, individual skills and the will to win and not about selfishness, greed and individualism, they will have a wonderful opportunity for a better way of life.

Today … Flicx Pitches in 2G

In 2016, Flicx launched their new and improved 2G Flicx Pitch and moved all production to the UK. A great number of performance improvements are contained in the 2G product and as a result the number of applications has increased. Take a look around our blog or website for various case studies looking at different applications of the 2G pitch and testimonials from happy customers around the world whose facility issues have been solved thanks to Flicx.
