A permanent Cage Cricket cage incorporating a new 2G Flicx Pitch has been setup at The Ageas Bowl in Southampton, Hampshire, which is also the home of Hampshire Cricket Club. The cage was opened by Legendary England all-rounder Sir Ian Botham and Hampshire Cricket Chairman Rod Bransgrove on Monday, 16th September 2013, and was followed by England vs. Australia in the final one-day international.
Co-founder of Cage Cricket and former Hampshire batsman Lawrence Prittipaul said; “It’s fantastic to have launched the cage at The Ageas Bowl because Hampshire is where cage cricket started. The support of Rod and Sir Ian, amongst others, has been absolutely crucial in getting the whole concept off the ground and to see the cage up and running today is the realisation of a dream for me.”
The Ageas Bowl Cage Cricket cage is now a permanent feature at the ground and one which will be accessible by the general public at any time, including by supporters around the ground at Hampshire and England matches.
