Are you a cricket coach or a budding designer? If so then Flicx UK have a competition just for you as we are looking for new ideas and designs for the 2014 Flicx range. The Flicx Pitch is a great way for juniors to improve their bowling line and length as well as batting technique as marks on the pitch assist players in becoming more consistent acting as coloured target lines.
Design 1 – Traditional
The image above shows the current traditional Flicx design. It features a Hawk Eye strip through the middle, colour coding for on side and off side created with coloured tiles whilst the two strips behind the stumps are to assist with channel bowling.
Now we are looking for YOU to come up with new ideas for a new pitch design which we will then take to a public vote to choose the winning entry.
Your design could be for any purpose and made in any colour. For example to with aids to help coach kids, to fund raise for a certain charity or based on a bowler or your own innovate ideas.
The winning entry will receive a Flicx mat made in their design (7.5 x 1.6 metres ). All entries which reach the final public vote will also receive runners up prizes.
The file above has been created in excel but entries are accepted in any format. The full match pitch dimensions are 22.12 x 1.8 metres. Alternatively if you would prefer just email us your concept in an email and we will work with you to create the artwork. Cricket Kit 4 Africa is an initiate to help grow and build the game of cricket in Africa
As the game and the popularity of cricket grows around the world so does the need for kit and equipment. This is especially the case in Africa, where you will find young people create a game in car parks, on the beaches and even in the middle of game parks!
Cricket Kit 4 Africa
Cricket, as in many sports, allows young boys and girls to express themselves and gain new skills and talents. The youngsters are often found living with terrible poverty and surrounded by devastating diseases such as AIDS and TB. Cricket gives them an opportunity to break away from the realities of this devastating life and do those things that children should be doing – Living life and having fun.
The cost of kit becomes prohibitive for many young families and this is where the initiative of Cricket Kit4 Africa comes in…
Cricket kit 4 Africa is committed to obtaining old and second hand cricket kit that is no longer used or is even damaged and gets it into the hands of those who will benefit from it in Africa. The initiative is driven by Flicx UK ( a cricket equipment company based near Brackley, with roots in Africa).
“ It is our objective to work with cricketing bodies, clubs and individuals from around the world to collect old cricket kit, get it cleaned, repaired and in a fit state and get it into the hands of those enthusiastic youngsters who are less privileged than ourselves. We have large storage facilities and access to industrial sewing equipment to have any kit repaired and we are appealing to all those of you who may have kit in your garages or attics to contact us . We are also appealing for donations , no matter how big or small, to help fund this vital initiative” said owner Richard Beghin
If you can help please contact Flicx UK on 01295 816765 – we work with our partners SOS Kit Aid to get the kit collected and sent to Africa. Thank-you

On the weekend of the 22nd- 24th March, whilst the snow fell in England putting pay to our sporting calendar, the Lanzarote Cricket Association (LCA) were hosting their inaugural T20 International Cricket Tournament which saw matches played on their new Flicx match pitch.
6 teams including Woodford Wells CC, Green Moor CC, Rickmansworth Select, Tenerife CC, Lanzarote Select and Lanzarote Casuals took part in the tournament with Lanzarote crowned as champions (making the most of their home advantage!) A Flicx Pitch was purchased by the LCA to support the growing number of expats on the Island and hence the growing popularity of cricket. Lanzarote is also promoting itself as a touring destination for oversea’s teams to come to the island and play friendlies – again on the flexible Flicx surface which can see any area for example a 3G football area or grass park, transformed into a cricketing venue.
Speaking about the tournament Peter Starmer commented “
The tournament turned out to be a fantastic success with everyone commenting on how much they enjoyed it and that would all be coming back again with even more players and more teams. Even more of a success for us as the Lanzarote first XI won the trophy following a couple of real nail biters – Tenerife C.C. in the semis, Green Moor C.C. in the final, with a great turnout from the supporters. Our new Flicx was superb, (thank you very much for eveyone´s efforts in getting it to us so promptly), we would not have done the competition without it and offered a splendid true and even playing surface, allowing some outstanding performances with both bat and ball”

Crazy Catch Classic range for Cricket
The other side to the Flicx business is the Flicx Pitch – an amazing roll out, portable pitch which allows you to transform any surface into a cricketing venue. We work closely with the ICC to help provide a platform to develop cricket in emerging markets and recently held a competition looking for inspirational stories of “How Cricket changed has changed my life” … The response was fantastic with countries promoting their entries using social media with Israel victorious with their Cricket4Peace entry.
In the UK the pitches have seen a surge in popularity and they are commonly rolled into the ground for a more permanent, cost effective crease as well as our smaller coaching and batting ends used in training and a home academy– and it’s not too late to get yours installed for the start of the season… Contact email@example.com for a quote or again use your local cricket retailer.

Following the recent success of the Flicx Pitch competition in conjunction with the International Cricket Council (ICC) Europe – Flicx UK have announced a 20% discount, for the month of April, for all pitches purchased by ICC Europe members.
ICC Europe Official Supplier – Flicx UK
The Flicx Pitch was originally developed to provide cricket facilities in post apartide South Africa, and was brought to market by entrepreneur Richard Beghin. The portable roll out Flicx Pitch allows any surface to be transformed into a cricket facility which means that particularly in developing nations it’s a hugely popular product, being great value for money and an excellent surface on which to play the game.
In March a joint competition between Flicx UK and ICC Europe came to an exciting climax with various members submitting inspiration stories of how cricket had changed their lives – before canvassing votes for their entry amongst their networks. The winning story came from the Palestinian Authority via the Israel Cricket Association with their Cricket4Peace story telling of how Israeli and Palestinian children play alongside each other which won by the smallest of margins over Dundalk CC, Ireland.
Shehadeh Salamin will shortly take order of his prize, a Flicx match pitch which will allow cricket to continue to flourish thus helping the troubled region to rebuild and for more children to find hope and enjoyment through sport in these challenging times.
The Flicx pitch arrives and is rolled out
Speaking about the Flicx Pitch, Nick Pink from ICC Europe commented
“The Flicx Cricket Pitch is ideal for introductory level cricket in countries that do not have existing pitches or the skills and resource to develop pitches. Due to the versatility of the Flicx cricket pitch it makes use of limited facilities at a minimum cost. It is an innovative option for our member countries across Europe to transform any existing sports field into a cricket playing facility.”
Now all ICC Europe members can benefit from a Flicx Pitch, with an exclusive discount of 20% off pitches ordered in April. As well as match pitches, Flicx supply coaching pitches and batting ends (view the full product range) For your quote simply contact Flicx UK on 01295 816765 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
